National Housing Day: Ending homelessne​ss by 2023

Ending chronic homelessness in Kingston by 2023 is the goal of the City of Kingston’s 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan approved by Council in December 2013. Take a free ride on Kingston Transit and Downtown Kingston! on Saturday, Nov. 22 to go see the nighttime Santa Claus Parade.

Riding Kingston Transit including the Express service will be free from 3 p.m. and for the rest of the day and evening for anyone boarding Kingston Transit anywhere in the city.

Remembranc​e Day civic ceremony and City schedule

KINGSTON, ONT./ Nov. 3, 2014 –  The City’s Remembrance Day Civic Ceremony takes place at the newly-restored Cross of Sacrifice on King Street at the foot of George Street on Tuesday, Nov. 11.  Wreaths will be laid at the Cross of Sacrifice ahead of the ceremony by community groups, starting at 9:15 a.m., and veteran and military groups starting at 10:15 a.m. Read more ›

Vote online or by phone until 8 p.m. on October 23

Kingstonians have one more day to cast their municipal election ballots online at <http://www.CityofKingston.ca/vote>.  Online and telephone voting polls close tomorrow night at 8 p.m.

About 7,000 residents have already used the Voter Identification Number on their Voter Information Notice to take advantage of opportunity to vote online or by phone. You must first register online prior to casting your vote by telephone or online.

The Elections Office will be staffed until 8 p.m. tomorrow to offer customer service to voters.

Need to add your name to the Municipal Voters List?

Be ready to vote in the municipal election on October 27: check to see if you are on the municipal Voters’ List – and apply to add your name ahead of the election to help avoid line-ups on the Final Voting Day.

You can now check the Voters’ List two ways:

1. By entering your name and address at www.CityofKingston.ca/city-hall/elections/voters/voters-list.

2. By inspecting the Voters’ List at:

  • City Hall, 216 Ontario St.
  • INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd.
  • Municipal Office, 1211 John Counter Blvd.
  • These Kingston Frontenac Public Library Branches: Central, 130 Johnson St.; Kingscourt, 115 Kirkpatrick St.; Calvin Park, 88 Wright Cres.; Pittsburgh, 80 Gore Rd.; and Isabel Turner, 935 Gardiners Rd.
